Overview : Bangkok is one of the fastest growing cities in Asia. About 6.5 million people (2006) live in the metropolis. No matter what one of these, the frenetic pace, exotic city holds - it certainly leaves a strong impression. For some, a chaos, the heat, many of the traffic and lack of personal freedom to be overwhelming, however, and reason enough to Bangkok as soon as possible to leave.
The metropolis offers a strange mix of traditional eastern and modern Western culture, so every street is full of surprises. Old huts are crouching next to exotic temples with magnificent gardens, which in turn by modern hotels and office buildings will be overshadowed. The Lumphini Park, with its pavilions and two small lakes is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the city. Tourists who do not have time to do the rest of Thailand to visit, the open-air museum at the Ancient City. There can be replicas of famous buildings, monuments and temples from all over the country, some full-size reconstructed. The museum covers a total of 112 hectares and is located 33 km southeast of the city centre.

In any case, a visit is worth for the Bang Pa In palace, 60 miles north of Bangkok.
